November 2010

Switzerland - Speaking at Cambridge Day Saturday 6th November in Winterthur
Technology Unlimited
Technology is the key to so many exciting opportunities in teaching nowadays. If we harness its power, we can use it to make learning more effective, more engaging and more relevant. Learners learn best when they are exposed to a wealth of comprehensible input along with a focus on form. They also need the ability to reflect on, and customise, their learning. The digital components of English Unlimited provide all these opportunities. We’ll take a look at the Self-Study DVD-ROM, the e-Portfolio and the Teacher’s DVD-ROM, a resource bank of extra activities, tests and video.

Goal!
Scoring a goal feels great! How can we replicate this in English language learning? First we need to help learners identify those goals – to see the real language that they need in order to operate successfully in this 21st century global world. Based on a vast language corpus and the CEF, a goals-based approach can really give our students something worthwhile to aim at. Examples come from the brand new adult course from Cambridge, English Unlimited.
